COURSE DESCRIPTION
In this course you’ll learn what a social business is and how to develop your own business plan. Social business permit at the investors to make economic surplus but the economic profit generated by social business have to be reinvested in the business in order to guarantee advantage for the beneficiaries. Make a good business plan is the first but mandatory step in the construction process of your activity and in this course you’ll learn how to use the commonest business plan: Canvas.

LEARNING OUTCOMES
- In the first part of this session some theoretical tools will be released, useful for the understanding of what social business is.
- The second part will provide practical tools that can be used to concretely implement a social business model.
Introduction
In our contemporary scenario we have to distinguish two different types of economic-corporate bodies. In the first type there are companies that can be seen as profit-maximizing businesses. In the other type we have non-profit organizations that exist to fulfill social objectives. When we speak about social business we refer to the second type of organizations

Vocabulary
Business model: a business model is the conceptual structure supporting the viability of a business, including its purpose, its goals and its ongoing plans for achieving them. In other words is a plan or the successful operation of a business, identifying sources of revenue, the intended customer base, products, and details of financing.
Social Entrepreneur: a person who pursues novel applications that have the potential to solve community-based problems. These individuals are willing to take on the risk and effort to create positive changes in society through their initiatives.
Social Business: a business model that does not strive to maximize profits but rather to serve humanity’s most pressing needs. Although the social business is pioneering in its aims, it is traditional in its management.
Social Innovation: social innovation is the process of developing and deploying effective solutions to challenging and often systemic social and environmental issues in support of social progress.
Value proposition: value proposition refers to a business or marketing statement that a company uses to summarize why a consumer should buy a product or use a service. This statement convinces a potential consumer that one particular product or service will add more value or better solve a problem than other similar offerings will
