Distal The direction toward the gingiva beyond the tooth furthest from the anterior midline (the ‘most posterior tooth’ or last tooth) in each quadrant of a dental arch, as opposed to mesial, which refers to the direction toward the anterior midline. Each tooth can be described as having a distal surface and, for posterior teeth, a distobuccal (DB) and a distolingual (DL) corner or cusp.

Document Library (PDF) The principles of implant-protected occlusion In the apico-coronal dimension, implants should be positioned 3.0 mm from the free gingival margin. Mesial-distally, implants should be placed a minimum of 1.5 mm from adjacent teeth.
Centric Occlusion: This is a relation between the lower and the upper teeth, that is, it is a tooth-to-tooth relation. Defined as being the occlusion of teeth as the mandible closes in centric relation. It is a reference point from which all other relations are eccentric.(fig 2) Fig.2:
PDF | The discipline of orthodontics is directed towards alteration of the occlusion of the teeth and the relationships of the jaws. It is therefore somewhat surprising to find that there is
Man, this thread made me think. Occlusion was two quarters ago. Anyway, the best way I had to get through the occlusion final was to draw out the mandibular cusps and then the maxillary contacts on top of them (maybe in a different color). After two hours of visualizing occlusion my brain was seriously fried.

The mesial half of the maxillary canine occludes with the distal half of the mandibular canine. Explain the molar relationship of a Class II Occlusion. The mesio-facial groove of the mandibular 1st molar is posterior to the mesio-facial cusp of the maxiallry 1st molar by at least the width of a premolar.
