The traditional way to translate your LaTeX document into PostScript is to run the latex program to get a DVI file, and then dvips to get a PostScript file. With PDF being used more often nowadays, you could run the ps2pdf program to convert PostScript into PDF. (Or use a commercial application such as Acrobat Distiller.)
So I tried the following alternative, which led to Problem 2: I make a ps copy with dvips (which, strangely, doesn’t have problems with UNC paths), and then convert to a pdf file directly from GhostView using File->Convert->pdfwrite with 600dpi resolution and embed-all-fonts as options.

I am having a problem trying to make a presentation in Latex, which will be much faster and easier than OO or PowerPoint if I can get it to work. I am compiling to dvi, converting that to ps (dvips) then converting that to pdf (ps2pdf) but ps2pdf insists on using a letter paper size so my slides are getting cut off as prosper outputs to A4 size.
