    The 878 is a Sportsman 58 that doesn’t have the high/low selector. They only made 63,478 from 1959 to 1963 so it was low production but I would sell mine in a second for $1000 (probably $500). It was one of two models Remington ever made for another company (the other is the Browning Auto 5
    Actually, between Sportsman-58 parts and 1100 parts, with a little ingenuity those 878’s pose no real problems. It has the internal pistol design of the Sportsman-58 with the action bar design of the 1100. Remington really only changed from the internal piston to the external piston ring design for the 1100.

    Well its a Remington 878 auto master is the production name of the shotgun and to remove the plug from what i can see in the pictures, at the end of the fore grip should be a bowl shaped metal piece with grip on it just twist it off and then you should have access to the tube mag thus the plug.
