“Puss in Boots serves solely as light relief amidst an otherwise grim set of tales”. Discuss in relation to at least two other texts in the collection Angela Carters Puss in Boots can be seen as just light relief against her other “grim tales”, with her comic anecdotes and lack of gothic language.

“Puss in Boots” is a famous fairytale, but its moral is pretty questionable. The title character achieves everything through trickery and his masters become rich doing nothing. Charles Perrault’s Puss in Boots, or Master Cat, is probably the most famous fairytale with an animal in the title.
