Bronchiectasis often comes with acute purulent inflammation, which is the yellowish thing that can be seen around the bronchial tree. If you’ve ever dissected a lung during autopsy, you’ve opened the bronchial tree with scissors (if you haven’t tried, you should!).
Bronchiectasis is a prevalent respiratory condition characterised by permanent and abnormal dilation of the lung airways (bronchi). Proteases produced in the lung by the inflammatory response damage the airways and lead to the pathological dilation that is the pathognomonic feature of bronchiectasis.

The disorder mostly starts with a narrowing of the bronchial tree triggered by an
Widespread bronchiectasis is typical for patients with cystic fibrosis who have recurrent infections and obstruction of airways by mucus throughout the lungs. About 2/3 of CF cases are due to the delta F508 mutation of the cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) gene, but there are
Bronchiectasis is usually localized, affecting a segment or lobe of a lung, most frequently the lower lobes. Inflammation. The inflammatory process associated with pulmonary infection damages the bronchial wall, causing a loss of its supporting structure and resulting in thick sputum that ultimately
Bronchiectasis should be considered in all children with chronic respiratory symptoms, particularly if associated with a history of a severe respiratory infection in the past, digital clubbing, and malnutrition. HRCT of the chest has largely replaced bronchography for the diagnosis of bronchiectasis.
Bronchiectasis is a permanent dilatation and thickening of the airways characterised by chronic cough. The severity of bronchiectasis used to be classified according to the volume of sputum produced but this has now largely been superseded by using the radiological appearance on CT scan.

Bronchiectasis is an uncommon disease, most often secondary to an infectious process, that results in the abnormal and permanent distortion of one or more of the conducting bronchi or airways. In 1950, Reid characterized bronchiectasis as cylindrical, cystic, or varicose in nature.
