Best meditation instruction I have been meditating for over 5yrs and this has been the best meditation instruction I have heard so far. Sakyong Mipham really knows how people’s mind works in the west and is able to really speak to us in my opinion. I have read this book as well and it is one of my favorite.

Shambhala Mandala in Crisis: & 3 Ways to Fix It. A Sense of Urgency; We Can No Longer Afford to Brush Concerns Under the Rug. Meditation practice and instruction play a central role in Shambhala. New students are introduced to the basic teachings and are encouraged to try the practice of shamatha meditation. Initial meditation instruction is very important and should be presented by a qualified instructor. I was told by my meditation instructor to read “Turning the Mind Into an Ally” because it describes the basic instructions of and reasons behind meditation. And it does, beautifully so. The beauty of it is that it describes it so simply without any unnecessary stories, words, or descriptions.
Shambhala Guide Training is a thorough training for students, with a strong meditation practice, who feel ready to begin to help others on their meditative journeys. The training prepares participants to skillfully host newcomers in our centers by understanding our lineage, cultural forms, practice paths, and by being a resource and friend.
As a Tibetan lama and leader of Shambhala (an international community of 165 meditation centers), Sakyong Mipham has found physical activity to be essential for spiritual well-being. He’s been trained in horsemanship and martial arts but has a special love for running.

The Shambhala Meditation Center is committed to helping students grow and develop their meditation practice. Laziness (kausidya) “prevents the application of meditation because one doesn’t even begin after receiving instructions in meditation.”Sakyong Mipham explains: One of the most challenging obstacles for a beginning meditator is Laziness. Laziness can be an obstacle even before we reach our seat, because it can keep us from ever getting there.
