I saw a square hole being drilled in another video, but the video did not explain how it actually works like this one did. The drills are quite expensive, and not very deep. But a mortiser (woodworking!) or a broach is not cheap either.
Hole-making is a class of machining operations that are specifically used to cut a hole into a Specialized equipment also exists for hole-making, such as drill presses or tapping machines. Hole-making operations are typically performed amongst many other operations in the machining of
to make a square-hole drill with an Oldham coupling to make a drill that has one end following pure circular motion, while the other end has a cutting tool that follows an exact square. More details of the square-hole drill portion can be found in the Demonstration “Drilling a Square Hole”.
Woodworking square hole drill reduces labor intensity of construction workers, speeds up the construction speed, reduces construction costs for construction, installation, renovation, decoration industries. Various existing bits can only process a circular hole.
Quadsaw cuts square holes in plaster walls. That makes it very handy for installing power points, light switches and other electrical bits and pieces, and not much chop for anything Connecting to the end of a drill, Quadsaw can be set to drill squares or rectangles with its four straight cutting blades.
Every hole it drills is circular: they have to be, because the drill bits are round. If you have the right equipment, though, there are ways you can drill Mortises are square holes, and a mortise bit is a special drill bit used to cut mortises. These bits consist of two parts: an auger-style bit, which cuts a
Just drill a hole slightly undersize (3/64″ smaller than the size of the punch) and position the punch over the hole; with a few hammer taps, it cuts the hole square, with smooth walls and 90° corners. Punch tips are machined and ground from hardened O1 tool steel (Rc 48-52)
The QuadSaw can be chucked into a drill and used to cut perfectly square and rectangular holes in drywall. The attachment is the brainchild of T. Michael Sebhatu devised a mechanism that converts the rotary motion of a drill to the linear motion of an oscillating multitool (OMT). The blade in an OMT
Square drill bits. Perfect square holes every time. *** Disclaimer ***. As I have no wish to toy with anybody’s life, I suggest you take this and all other posts with a certain amount Is there a simple way to do this, in, say, square tube? Drill press, arbor press, shop press available, but no milling machine.
We have covered the process for drilling square holes (with rounded corners) using the Watts drill before, but in the intervening time some cool videos demonstrating the process have surfaced on YouTube, e.g. the one I’ve embedded, above, from user jacquesmaurel.
Benchtop mortising machines aren’t the only option when it comes to cutting square-shouldered Even though they’re sexy, benchtop mortising machines aren’t the only power-tool option when it comes During operation, the auger drills a round hole and the four-sided chisel squares the corners.

Machining 101: How to drill a square hole at home without special tools. Drills need to be inline, not flexing like this, or they just destroy themselves. Just use a mortising bit and you get a nice, square hole, no problem.
