Older versions of Fontconfig expected the configuration file (.fonts.conf) to be in the user’s home directory. Now, Fontconfig expects this file — renamed fonts.conf — in the ~/.config/fontconfig directory. So run these commands to create the folder, as well as move (and rename) the conf file to

ever since then i get this error Fontconfig error: Cannot load default config file. which means (probably amongst other things) that i cant install new fonts when i double click a ttf font and select “install font”, it says the “install failed”. and when i try updating the font cache i get this.
