I am try to create a reverse-lookup file in BIND, but I need it to point to many networks not just one. I have three networks that connected to the same bind I would like that in one reverse-lookup file I could refer to all of the clients at the three networks. Currently I have no idea on how to write that zone
DNS (Domain Name System) is an internet service that can be used to translate the user-friendly domain into computer-friendly IP addresses. You can also perform reverse translation i.e. from IP addresses to domain name translations using DNS. BIND also known as a Berkeley Internet Name Reverse DNS lookups for IPv4 addresses use a reverse IN-ADDR entry in the special domain in-addr.arpa. In this domain, an IPv4 address is represented as a concatenated sequence of four decimal numbers, separated by dots, to which is appended the second level domain suffix
All Domain Controllers in our environment are DNS servers, and vice versa. The Activity. We have a reverse lookup zone 168.192.in-addr.arpa. So, to summarize, when we break a reverse lookup zone into smaller zones, all existing records matching those smaller zone subnet(s) would be deleted

I’m setting up an Ansible lab and I thought it would be a good idea to use DNS. I’m using named (BIND) on Centos 7 and followed this guide for setting up My forward lookups are working fine. However, I’m not having any luck with my reverse lookups: sam@gnome-desktop ~ $ host windows-7
Many applications use reverse lookups to identify the domain from which a TCP/IP connection is formed. Best practice for DNS is to create a PTR Please note the period following the domain name in the record. This is critical beacuse it tells BIND that the domain name is attached and complete
If a reverse-map file is not included in our DNS configuration then, as normal, the query will pass to The DNS hierarchy continues to see a normal IP address reverse lookup and delegates normally BIND is completely agnostic about line ends (CR+LF or LF) so notepad on windows, for example, will
    ## REVERSE LOOKUP ##. The Reverse DNS is one of the basic requirements for running some Internet protocols. It is also often used as a spam filter to determine whether the IP address of the incoming message matches an authenticated domain name and to block the message if it doesn’t.
